About Us
Thank you for visiting Drum Lessons Miami.
Whether you’re a beginner, professional, parent or instructor, I hope to share tips and techniques that can help you play better, learn faster and make smarter decisions.
My name is Bill Gato. I was born and raised in Miami and still live here. I had the pleasure of studying drums for 10 years with Mr. Daniel Perez. Danny was a master drummer and a beloved South Florida teacher. As a young adult he had studied in New York with legendary drum teacher Henry Adler, co-author of the classic instructional book, Buddy Rich’s Modern Interpretation of Snare Drum Rudiments.
My 10 years with Danny were a powerful blessing, not just for my drumming, but for my life. I went to Danny seeking to become a better drummer. I thought I was taking a drumming course. It was actually a Life Course. I tell my students the same thing.
Drumming and life are inseparable. The techniques and disciplines that we learn and apply to drumming also apply to life.
Through this blog, I hope to share some of the insights I gleaned during my years with Danny, as well as during my years of playing and teaching after Danny. I hope it will inspire you to delve deeper into the art of drumming.
Or shall I say…the art of living.
Regards,
Bill Gato
